Wordy Wednesday

Dear furriends,

we take it as our duty as cats to help our mom study. We are very pleased that mom now got the result on her last exam ever and it was very good. Largely due to us and your purrs, of course! Now, this exam was two months ago and while waiting for the outcome mom was supposed to at least start thinking about her final written work. Like in which subject to do it, about what, talk to the profs, look at literature etc. Today we confronted her and found out that she has been lazing around! She was full of excuses and foul explanations for this deplorable state of affairs but we're having none of that no more. Immediate measures have to ensue:
We announce a blogcation!
We don't know how long it will take, maybe two weeks, maybe three, but as responsible student cats we have to concentrate all our energy on getting mom back on track. It's a hard job but somecat's got to do it!
Chilli will check that her material and filing is up to date.
I will put up my usual helpdesk. That involves napping on the sheet she is actually reading to direct her attention if impawtant points are missing. Tricky!
We will invite her to relax and pause from time to time.

We might be lurking around, maybe comment now and then, but largely we will dedicate us to getting mom going on this ultimate step in her student's life. We will miss blogging and our furriends terribly but are sure you'll understand.
After our blogcation we will introduce cool new members of the Silky and Slender Crew, show some wonderful packages we got lately from our even more wonderful furriends and hopefully some happily sprouting cat mint plants! So watch this space!
Love and purrs to all of you,
Siena & Chilli

P.S.: We will also tell you if we got one of the baby blackbirds on our terrace or not. Mom is determined to defend them. We'll see...

An award avalanche

We had to put a massive bitey on mom to finally get her around to posting our awards. She hasn't posted them since months, always saying a frase with a four letter word (I'm so busy). ; )
We appreciate each and every one of them! Thank you all for thinking of us!

Today is...

... National Day in Norway!
Of course the SIFs, the Sisters In Floof, are celebrating the day of the constitution. Please head over to Momo's and to Fin's place as they both have prepared a special post on this occasion.Welcome to Theodor from Norway! He's a Norwegian Forest Mancat-in-Training! Gorgeous, huh?
Sigh, I have to get used to not being the youngest one in the Norwegian Forest Cat crew anymore. Good thing that the others assured me that I'll always be LSIF (Little Sister In Floof).

Tired on Thursday

We're all so tired today. Mom went back to the dentist today and it looks like no root-canal will be necessary. That's very, very good news! Still, they worked some more on the tooth and now she's ouchy. We will have to purr away on her...

Busted

Ha! Mom will have to apologise to the other type of human for suspecting him falsely the other day. I am, after all, Señorita Escapista! Please remember that I'm available for tutorials on escapism. Charges are affordable!
Here's the official
"How to" guide to escapism.

Step one: Looking.
Step two: Measuring.
Step three: Pull-up.
Note the "back-up tail", swung around the curtain for extra hold. The pull-up to the tilted window requires some strength and you might have to paw the window with your hind paws quite a bit to really get up and through there. At this point mom jumped to pull me out of the tilted window, so I can't show step four which involves the actual escape into freedom.
Mom is amazed at how slender I am under my floof. The problem is, she can't open the window for fresh air anymore 'cos she's convinced I could get deaded in the tilted window. Silly mom! Of course I wouldn't!

Found it!

How did mousie get in the human garbage bin???
Here's wishing for a beautiful Mother's Day for all tomorrow. I suggest a mousie as a present - your mom will know you love her!

Finally Friday - fierce!!!

What I purrsonally knew all along is now- as of yesterday evening - offcial: I am a very fierce huntress.
I have caught a real mousie!
Mom almost wouldn't believe it when she realised it was a mousie I was "playing" with. I told her to do a video for all of you to see me play with it. It was a real alive mousie!

Can you believe that mom said not all of you might want to see this?! What is she talking about? Of course you want to see my first prey - that's a milestone! All of a sudden my mousie disappeared though. One moment it was laying in front of my paws and then it was gone. I sniffed all over the place but it left without a trace... I shall search for it tomorrow. Oh, and Siena only watched from a distance - I think she was afraid of the mousie. Hahahahaha! My floofy sisfur only plays with mousies with floofy tails. She's such a gentle giant!
I wish each and efurryone of you a pawsome weekend!
Your fierce 9 months old huntress Chilli.

Driving mom crazy

This is our ritual when mom lets us outside: We get our collars on and then we rush to the terrace door. Chilli meows loudly all the time as soon as she hears the bell of her collar. The little one climbs on the top of our kitchen cat tree and will actually launch herself off from up there through the open terrace door. I wait on the floor in front of the door to be opened.
Lately mom has been taking her time to open the door, because she thinks it's a bad habit of Chilli to meow that much. She wants to condition her to the notion "waiting patiently equals door gets opened". The problem is that this makes ME unpatient and I start meowing too. I don't know... do you think this is going to work?

Hear Chilli meow in this video and check for my two funny meows towards the end. Mom says I'm probably not really a cat as my meow sounds so strange.

Peculiar predilection for...

... pasta!I love dry spaghetti! Mom found out when some indavertedly fell on the floor one day and she heared strange crunching sounds. It was me - the resident nibbler!
Hand them over mom, they are delicious!
Nom, nom, nom...
... NOM, NOM, NOM!
The only bad thing is that I can't actually eat them: The nommed bits fall out of my mouth all of the time. Mom is relieved by that. She's such a spoilsport.
What peculiar predilection do you have?

Are you Ἄλφα?

It has officially begun. Now it's going to show if Chilli is the α-cat she aspires to be. Little Miss silly Chilli went on the neighbours deck again.
The opponent on the strategic wall.
While she was over there Frida, one of the neighbour cats, came out of their appartement and attacked Chilli so that she fell down in their patio. The way back to us was now cut off by Frida who had her tail puffed and was hollering. After some time Chilli worked up all her courage and headed for home encountering a very unfriendly Frida on the narrow wooden railing of their deck. She got several whaps and there was scary screaming going on but she made it home! Chilli is unharmed, she hasn't even got a scratch. It all went so fast but mom thinks she saw that Chilli whapped her too. I have never done that!
I could tell that Chilli was impressed.
She had to have a drink to calm her nerves. She seemed to recover fast from the initial shock though.
Now, what's it going to be?
A) open war for dominance
over the garage roof?
B) coming to an arrangement?
I was so miffed to see my little sisfur attacked that I almost forgot that I'm a friendly cat and considered challenging Frida myself.

Escapista

Dear furriends,
starting today I will be available for professional tutorials on escapism for interested kitties. You ask why? Well, today I managed to escape and stay unsnoopervised outside for hours while the humans were away. The other type of human was bringing back the rented car when mom came home and wondered why I didn't come to greet her immediately. She looked for me everywhere and as our appartement is really small it became obvious that I wasn't inside. With a feeling of disbelief and horror she opened the terrace door and began calling me - and I came rushing to her within seconds. As moms are sometimes she called the other type of human and started telling him off that he must have let me out before they left but he said he didn't do it. Then she realised that a small upper window in one of the rooms was tilted. Mom normally closes the window when she leaves as I once managed to get myself trapped between the window and the mosquito net as a kitten. Since then I've never tried to escape through the tilted window again and frankly, mom thought I wouldn't fit through there anyway. Look how small the opening of the tilted window is! I could have easily strangulated myself in there! Mom still suspected the other type of human when she decided to investigate the other side of the window. The other time I gloriously escaped through the, that time open, window I flattened some of the plants on the windowsill, but this time it looked as if no floofy cat had landed on them. Everything in place! But there was floof clinging to the mosquito net which wasn't inside the window frame anymore but had an opening further on the right side at the completely closed part of the upper window. On closer inspection the dahlia on the windowsill showed some signs of an encounter of the cat type. Overall I left only the slightest traces!
Of course mom doesn't know when I escaped and I'm not telling but they were away from 10:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m.... And little Chilli was alone inside all the time! Hahahahahaha! Btw, the other type of human isn't off the hook and will be interviewed on his return. Mom still can't belive it. The window will be closed always now she says though.
You may call me Miss Escapista. Ha!

Finally Friday for the Silky & Slender Crew

More members!
Maggie May, possibly the purrtiest calico around and most certainly the one with the longest legs, has joined the crew. It can't get any slender! Maggie has a taste for wrestling with her floofy brofur Maya and shares the birthday date with my own resident floofy. She's cool! And crazy! A big yay to Maggie May!
Alfie is incredible silky and slender too. He auments the greyness factor of the group again! I like Alfie's catitude and we share a biographical event: We both came to live at our forever home with an older sibling already awaiting us and had to endure their initial hissy fits. I think we both did very well and now our siblings adore us. Welcome on board, Alfie!
And now to something completely different: a first assingment. Crew member Fiona told me recently that she was ready for an assignment. Why not?!
Let us show the world that although we might be slender we have a mighty purr.

My purr goes out to all my furriends who are sick, recovering, who have lost a loved one or find themselves in any kind of other sad and stressful situation.
Graphic by Zoolatry.
And in particular to the Sherwood Bunch who are going through a very hard time right now.

I dare the Silky & Slender members to show something purr-related and post a comment linking back to their post. Purr away, furriends! It's for the good of all!
Yours truly, Chilli
