Failed project...

... is a success!
Well with me, little Chillimus, anyway. You see, mom isn't really the crafty type of mom, but lately she has begun to do some wetfelting and crochet. Only all the good stuff was given away as presents! Don't get me wrong, I love to see a good furriend happy, it just would have been nice to keep something for us too. So mom agreed to do a crochet kitty bed for me us.
I helped during the complete process. That wool looks good!Flossing seemed impawtant to me. Mom said it isn't.
Tester kitty is pleased. Now turn the lights off.
Mom says I was the biggest help when the bed was big enough to already lie in it and she had to turn me around in it to be able to crochet further. This is what the bed - which we named Frootbed in the meantime - looked like before it was felted in the washing machine. By felting the wool the whole thing shrinks and gets sturdier (or so mom thought). Notice the wavey rim and the three lines in the pattern - do you think they look nice?
And this is what it looked like when it came out of the washing machine. "A mess", to cite mom here. The decorative brim and pattern had disappeared completely and it was much smaller than she intended it to be.
And it wasn't sturdy at all, in fact it collapsed under me. Mom wasn't happy with it at all.But I still liked it and played with it, afterwards trying to crawl inside. Look at my cute Hermit Crab impurrsonation!
So mom simply turned over the brim. Now it's sufficiently sturdy. And although it is quite the tight fit it's purrfect for sleeping in it. I have been glued to it ever since! It's great for the kitty circle...
... and for the kitty loaf.
Thank you mom, I love it!
Purrs,
Chillimus Prettypuss

It's a very cozy bed for you and you look very comfy and cute in it. Certainly not enough room for two kitties. Perhaps don't wash it next time :)

Your mom is very clever and talented to crochet a kitty bed. You're right, it *is* purrfect for sleeping in, even if your mom wasn't 100% pleased with the results. We think it's paw-some!

That is very cute. Mom can't work with wool and does not crochet! Your Mom did a great job. We liked the design and edging!

That is a PAWSOME bed! Our Mom has been doing a bit of wet felting as well. She has been working on a handfull of mice for us, that she will stuff with catnip when they are finished. We can't wait to show her this bed project. xoxo

Oh, I just loved this whole post! The bed looks so beautiful before it was washed! I'm terribly impressed -- I can't do anything like that! I bet your Mom was quite upset when she took it out of the washing machine. But, as you have amply demonstrated, it has served admirably to form a good kitty circle and kitty loaf. The hermit crab pose is our favorite! Well done, Chilli, for salvaging your Mom's project! PS. Tiger says that flossing really is impawtant when helping with a yarn-based project!!

Your mom is very talented, Chilli. Mama crochets a little but has never made a cat bed. It looked really beautiful before it went in the wash, but it still looks like it was custom made for you and it's still pretty and cozy. Love the hermit crab and loaf shots! You're lucky to have such a creative mom!

Oh Chilli -dat bed you have is pawsome. Your mama did a good job too. You were a good helper with the yard too by carefully holding it as mom worked.

We think the bed is looking very nice and not a mess. And we love the colors. But, since we live with a Mom who is very very particular, we can understand. We also say THANK YOU again for our bed. We loves it.

Yer Mom is very talented! Our Bein can only hem up his "too-long" jeans...

On the other paw, he uses carpet thread and does it "OK", so we guess it is a 3 out of 5...

He sure wont win any awards for it though.

What a wonderful job your mom did!!!!

The PM was trying to make a knitted bed for us and can't figure out how to use the circular needles. Maybe crocheting is the way to go.

You look very comfy cozy in your bed Chillimus!!!
