Only one to go

Furriends, the countdown is on - only one blue egg left to hatch.
The little ones are doing cute little chirps and Mrs. Blackbird is busy feeding them.
And look: Daddy Blackbird is helping feed the chicks too. Now that they have hatched starts the critical time concerning the Magpies. Maybe the chirping attracts them. Mom is determined to defend the featherless feathers.
She got some larvae at the pet shop today to offer to family Blackbird. With the wet weather there should be plenty of Earthworms around but she says she wants to offer some support. Gross! Thanks mom, now that I know what these birds feed on I don't even want to eat them any more.
What's in the bag on the left you ask? Water fleas as a treat for our Fischies. Extra gross!!!

Friday with feathers

Furriends,
we've got the first birdie-update already. It's happening: the first little one has hatched.

And it thinks our mom is its mom, hahahahaha! We are having dreadful weather so lets all purr it stays warm and safe.
Have a good weekend!
Siena and Chilli

P.S.: We think we have to correct something as our mom's English has led some of you to believe she did a doctoral thesis. It was "only" a diploma thesis, but we're none the less proud of her. So just you know, no cat has to call her doctor. ; )

Thursday in the garden

Furriends, thursday is our favourite day - especially if we get to go outside in the garden! Mom is impawsible with helping us blog or visit these days, we don't even know the current password for Jonesie's Society of Feline Gardeners. Today we had lots of general maintenance and inspection to do. It's been raining and raining so everything is green and growing.
Chilli on very close inspection with a bush.
Peeping into the other world behind our garden wall.
Pausing just long enough to have her...
...Gardening Cat portrait taken. Thank you, Chillimus!
I was extra busy with all these grass halms the janitor misses when mowing.
Admitted, they are yummy and fun too.

So is rolling!
Look what mom kept secret from us until today:
Mrs. Blackbird is having a new go at it on our terrace. She has five blue eggs in her nest. In 2009 she tried it too but the Magpies took all of her chicks. Can you believe it - the Magpies and not us! Mom wants these little Blackbirds to live this time. We'll keep you updated!
Many purrs,
Siena & Chilli
